Cobram Hospital Celebrates 75 Years

2024 marks 75 years since the Cobram Hospital, now NCN Health Cobram, was purchased by the community from Dr Gerald Kennedy.  The health service celebrated with an Open Day, historic photo wall unveiling, sharing of hospital history, guest speakers, lunch and cake!

Community Health was open for the day to showcase their services to the community. Allied health staff were on hand to talk about services available to the community across the NCN Health organisation and how to access these services.

We had health promotion staff in attendance, the smoothie bike was well received and the free popcorn enjoyed by all.

Around 120 past and present staff, board members, volunteers, school students and community members gathered to hear from guest speakers, Leon West (Board President 1983 – 2000) Dale Brooks (Board President 2015 – 2019 and NCN Health Board Chair 2020 – 2022), After Hours Managers Genevieve Nielson who started at Cobram Hospital in 1999 and Fiona Currie who started in 2004.

The Cobram District Ladies Auxiliary were in attendance sharing memories and holding a raffle to raise money for the health service. Winner of the raffle was Carol Eddy.

The 75th Celebrations and Open Day were supported by the Moira Shire Council and State Government under the Flood Recovery Grants 2024/2025. Many thanks also to staff and community members for sharing their stories and memories of the health service.
