NCN Health Open to Visitors

NCN Health welcomes visitors and volunteers back to the hospital and residential aged care in line with directions from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

The Victorian government and DHHS announced restrictions for health care facilities would be eased from midnight November 22.

There are now no limits on the number of visitors to patients or residents, or restrictions on the reason for visiting. However, there are still measures in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in health services with DHHS saying that individual facilities may implement additional safety measures regarding visitations.

Visitors do not have to be socially distanced when inside a patient or resident’s private room, however, they must observe social distancing rules when in communal spaces or shared rooms.
Residents can also now leave their care facility for any reason, provided they comply with current restrictions applicable to all Victorians.

NCN Health CEO Jacque Phillips said the new directions were fantastic news for patients, residents and their families, especially ahead of the Christmas season.

She said NCN Health would take a gradual approach to the return to ‘normal’ visiting hours.

“NCN Health is currently allowing two visitors, not limited to same household, at a time into residential aged care facilities and acute inpatient wards. Children under 18 years old are allowed to accompany their parents or another adult and are in addition to the allowed two visitors.”

Ms Phillips said there are still a number of restrictions in place for visitors.

“Visitors to the hospital and residential aged care must be screened upon entry, visitors over 12 years old must wear a mask, sanitize their hands and practice social distancing, staying 1.5 metres away from others, in communal areas.”

“We ask the community for patience as our staff work with residents, patients and their families to ensure they are informed of the updated directions. If you are planning on visiting a loved one this week, it is a good idea to call ahead first.”
